This year’s Festival Jazz des Cinq Continents, taking place from July 19 – 29, will be celebrating 100 years of jazz, with a series of concerts in iconic locations all over Marseille. The festival kicks off on the 19th with its traditional free evening, held this year on the roof of the Friche Belle de Mai, with a concert by British band Sons of Kemet.
Since it is the centenary of jazz, the festival will be preceded by a number of other events in the month or so leading up to its start.
Among these will be two concerts at the Marseille Opera by legendary jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal, with Abd Al Malik and Mina Agossi, on June 12 and 13, coinciding with the release of his new album appropriately entitled “Marseille”.
VIP packs are available for these two evenings, including champagne cocktail and concert seats in the “carré d’or”. Full details can be viewed here.
The full Jazz des Cinq Continents programme is available on the organizers’ website.
