The IAU in Aix is the venue for an eclectic November networking evening focusing on setting up a business in a new environment, with testimonials from successful entrepreneurs and presentations by burgeoning start-ups.
The Trois Frères Biltong is a Marseille-based company, set up by an Irish/American duo, which sells authentic biltong. Educating local palates to something that is totally foreign to French cuisine was only one of the hurdles that had to be overcome.
Holmes Brothers imports street and surfwear from various suppliers worldwide. Apart from getting noticed among the competition, adapting to the European market and dealing with French bureaucracy can be a nightmare, but if approached correctly, they needn’t be a handicap.
We shall also be hearing from Anne-Marie Liénart, course director for the Master of International and Cross-Cultural Negotiation at Aix-Marseille University, who will be giving a short outline of the Masters course.
A number of start-up entrepreneurs from Marseille Innovation have also been invited to give their pitches in English. A chance to find out what’s cooking in one of the region’s brightest business incubators.
