The MAABN in 2015

As President of the MAABN, and on behalf of all the team, may I first present to you, the members, sponsors and friends of the association, my very best and warmest wishes for a Happy and Prosperous 2015!

As you now know, William Peterson has stepped down as Co-President of the association owing to his growing professional obligations. We are pleased to be able to tell you that he will remain a member of the Board and will continue to be active on certain of our ongoing projects.

Our events in 2014 brought greater visibility to the association and to its sponsors: 14 networking events hosted by different sponsors, new events in emblematic venues like the MuCEM in Marseille and the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, top-quality celebrations at the Chateau Ricard and the Pullman Palm Beach Hotel…. all of these alongside a highly successful conference on the importance of foreign languages for our local economy, co-organized with the UCCCAB, and our participation at different international events in the Marseille-Provence area.

All of this was made possible by our team of dedicated volunteers whose enthusiasm and hard work continue to ensure the success of the MAABN. Their work and the continuing support of the British and United States Consulates and of our local partners – the Conseil Général des Bouches du Rhône, the Société Ricard, Marseille Provence Airport and the Pullman Palm Beach Hotel – have enabled the MAABN to develop into a thriving community of people sharing an interest in Anglo-American professional, business and cultural activities.

For 2015 we will of course be continuing to organize our networking events and conferences and to support initiatives to develop bilingual and international education and other actions involving the Anglo-American community that contribute to the attractiveness and success of the Marseille-Provence economy.

To this end, we are developing stronger links with cultural bodies such as the MuCEM and hope to be able to offer new activities and opportunities to MAABN members and sponsors, with a number of surprises in store over the year to come!

Sponsors and members are the heart and soul of the MAABN and we are determined that our actions should bring them satisfaction. We now have a virtual community of well over 1700 individuals and businesses both consulting and contributing to our website (, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook pages and receiving our bi-monthly newsletter.

We aim to increase the number of active members in 2015, bringing new ideas and helping us to build a stronger MAABN for the future. The more fully subscribed members we have, the more projects we can undertake. By joining the MAABN, you have a voice in the association’s development; if you haven’t already done so, make a point of signing up now.

Finally, I hope to see you all on Thursday January 29th at the first Networking Thursday event of the year, which will be hosted by the British Council at their premises at 521 avenue du Prado in Marseille’s 8th district.
