British Council Opening in Marseille

English learning for all ages with the British Council in Marseille

The British Council will be opening a new English Language Centre in Marseille in September 2012 offering a broad range of courses for children aged from 6 to 17 and for adults.

With over 77 years’ experience teaching English all over the world, with 300,000 face to face students, our English courses are delivered by experienced and qualified teachers, English mother tongue or equivalent.  All British Council teachers have at least a first degree and a qualification in English language teaching.

Our courses for children take students from beginner to proficiency, offering them the chance to take the Cambridge ESOL exams. These courses will run during the school year (30 or 60 hours) and intensively during the school holidays.

Courses for adults will include: General English, Business English, Preparation for IELTS and Cambridge exams as well as more specialised professional English language for Legal and Financial English courses.  These will run on the basis of 30 hours over 8-week periods throughout the year.

Our methodology is based on communication and learner participation. We use dynamic, authentic tasks and activities combined with a focus on vocabulary and language structures (such as grammar) to reach language learning objectives mapped to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR). All our courses develop practical skills i.e. reading, speaking, listening and writing.

We place students in study groups (16 maximum per class) with similar ability and needs for more effective learning and we use a variety of different teaching media (audio-visual, articles, exercises, web-based). All our classrooms are equipped with the most up-to-date learning technologies, including interactive whiteboards.
